Explanation Planner

With this WorkSpace, students make notes to prepare and plan a five-paragraph explanation essay.

They can add a question as a title, e.g. How does the water cycle work? They then list key points for an introductory paragraph to say what they are going to explain, for body paragraphs to sequence how or why, and for a concluding paragraph. To record ideas using Voice Notes, double-click on the microphone buttons.

See "Explanation Frame" on LearningGrids for a Wordbar to support writing an explanatory text. For more resources to support planning for writing, search for writing frames.
