    Forces Investigation Frame

This Wordbar supports writing an outline of an investigation in which students observe the frictional forces on a mass being pulled down a slope of different gradients.

The set contains a starter tab, a frame, and relevant vocabulary to write up the investigation. To complete the test, attach mass weights to a force meter on a ramp. Pull the mass along the ramp using the force meter. Record the force needed to start the mass moving. Then increase the height of the ramp to make the gradient steeper at equal intervals and measure the force each time.

    Paper and Air Resistance Investigation

This Word Bank enables students to write an outline of an investigation into air resistance, in which they compare how a flat sheet, a folded sheet, and a crumpled sheet of paper will fall to the ground.

The set contains a starter tab, a frame, and relevant vocabulary to write up the investigation. To complete the test, students should use the same type of paper and drop each piece from a given height.

For other sets on this topic, search for forces on LearningGrids. For general word banks about forces, see the sets "Forces Words" and "Forces A – Z." To write an outline of another investigation into air resistance and gravity, see the set "Gravity and Air Resistance Investigation."

    Does It Float

With this Clicker Communicator set, students talk about whether a selection of objects float or sink. The set can be used by students to make predictions prior to an investigation into floating and/or to report on their findings, as well as answering questions about buoyancy properties of objects. The pictures can be changed to show the objects used in your classroom investigation.

The set can be used alongside the Clicker Connect set Floating and Sinking Investigation which allows students to record their predictions and results for a floating and sinking investigation based on nine objects. Search for floating on LearningGrids for other related sets.
