Changing Pitch of Sound - Set Two

In this Custom Set, children show their understanding of the relationship between the pitch of a sound and features of the object that made it. In this set, they consider the sound made when plucking a string between two pens as the distance between the pens is changed.

On the first page, sequence the pictures into the correct order – from the lowest to the highest pitch sound made. Then record an explanation of how the pitch of the sound changes – and why. Children can use a word bank to write about how and why the pitch of the sound changes.

For alternative activities, in which children consider the changes in pitch of sounds made by other instruments, see the Custom Sets "Changing Pitch of Sound – Set One/Three". For other Clicker resources on the topic, search for sound on LearningGrids.
