  7. Custom Set

Farm Animal Yes or No - Sorting

This is a Custom Set for sorting pictures of farm-based objects according to whether or not they are an animal (living thing) or not an animal (non-living thing). Children can decide which objects belong in each group by using their knowledge of the characteristics that are shared by all living things (i.e. life processes such as move, eat, breathe, and grow).

On the activity pages, click on the empty cells and choose the object which is or is not an animal. On the first pages, children sort the objects in pairs so that they focus on just two pictures at a time. On the final page, they sort all sixteen objects into the two categories.

Search for living things or farm on LearningGrids for other Clicker resources on this topic.

  8. Custom Set

Food from Plants or Animals - Sorting

In this Custom Set, students show their understanding of where food comes from, by sorting pictures of food and drinks according to their source. They decide which items belong in each group by using their knowledge of whether they have come from a plant or an animal.

On the activity pages, click on the empty cells and choose the item which comes from an animal and the one that comes from a plant. On the first pages, students sort the objects in pairs so that they focus on just two pictures at a time. On the final page, they sort all sixteen objects into the two categories.

For a more advanced sorting activity on this topic, where children complete a Venn diagram to show whether a range of food and drinks are sourced from plants or animals – or both, see the Clicker Board Set "Food Source – Plant or Animal".
